Showpad CEO Pieterjan Bouten recently announced it’s latest round of layoffs due to COVID-19’s economic fallout.
Showpad helps companies in a swath of industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, technology and financial services, increase the size of their sales deals by improving buyer engagement.
Showpad grew significantly recently, even raising $70 million last year, bringing its total funding to more than $180 million. In 2019, Showpad hired about 200 new employees.
Despite previous growth, Showpad had to let go of some employees to navigate these uncertain times. There are reports from impacted workers that the company is providing support packages and healthcare via COBRA for affected workers.
The sales enablement technology vendor stated that layoffs impacted its Go-To-Market teams in various locations, including Chicago, Belgium, London, Munich, San Francisco, Portland, and Poland. Currently, the company retains around 400 employees worldwide, with 160 based in the Chicago office.
Despite recently closing a successful funding round, the unseen and unanticipated impact of the coronavirus forced the firm to act quickly and responsibly in order to ensure we are here for our customers long into the future.
‘Every company must continuously reinvent itself. If there are people who cannot agree with that, they should look for another job. I’m honest about that. I need people who believe this is the right path’
Pieterjan Bouten, Showpad CEO
